The week before train driver assessment

8 September 2026 · 4 min read

The week before is not the time to discover a new format. It is the time to protect the attempt you already have. Sleep, the invite, and one more full-length run of the thing that still fades. Not a heroic all-nighter on a mock you have never sat.

You cannot cram vigilance. You can arrive already tired, which is a reliable way to spend the attempt.

Do these

  • Read the invite again. Start time, what to bring, whether the medical is the same day.
  • Sit one full-length vigilance run in the week, not the night before, if that is still a weak spot.
  • Sit one Bourdon at a length that actually tires you. Check the second half, not only the first sheet.
  • If a wrapper on the invite is still a stranger, meet it once now. Once is enough if the shape is clear.

Leave these

  • A full assessment-day mock the evening before. That is a way to turn up already spent.
  • A new test you have never seen, at 11pm, because a forum said it might come up.
  • Arguing with the last practice score. It is a training signal. It is not the cut.

The night before and the morning

Sleep. Eat something you already know you can sit through. Take the glasses you actually wear. Phone away when you sit. The instructions on the day are the ones that count, not a blog, including this one.

If you can be slightly bored and still accurate, you have done the work. The week before is maintenance. It is not a new campaign.
